Certified translations

The certified translation means the authentication of a simple translation by a translator certified by the Ministry of Justice. In order for a simple translation to be certified, it is stamped and signed by a certified translator, the same one that has done the translation. The certified translator thus confirms that the translation is correct and the content, the sense, and the meaning of the initial text have not been modified.

Three things you should know about certified translations

  1. What is a certified translation?
The certified translation means the certification of a simple translation by a translator certified by the Ministry of Justice. For a simple translation to be certified, the translation is first printed. The stamp and signature of the certified translator, the same translator who performed the translation, are applied to the printed translation. The certified translator thus confirms that the translation is correct, and that the content, sense, and meaning of the initial text have not been modified.
  2. What kind of documents can a certified translator certify?
A certified translator can certify any kind of document he/she has translated, or any translation he/she has verified, irrespective of its nature.
  3. What kind of documents need certification?
Any kind of document that has been translated can be certified, irrespective of its nature and of the procedure to be applied to the certified document.
It is expressly recommended to certify all documents with legal content or which represent official documents that are to be notarized. Only certified translations can subsequently be notarized by a notary public.
